In order to reveal pollination mechanism by wind , we studied natural Sabina vulgaris populations through observing the flowering phenology, distribution pattern of reproductive modules, female-male proportion and distribution pattern, pollen vigor, pollen spreading and space distribution characteristics and fruit setting status in Mu Us Sandland. The results were as followings:The single flowering period is from 11 to 13d, the best pollination period of female flower is about 7d, during which we found pollination drop in room but none in field. Flowering synchrony index varied from 0.2498~0.4667.The numbers of male flower are more than that of female flower in per area of Sabina vulgaris populations and the proportion is about 6.27:1. In experimental plot, female-male proportion is 0.6:1 and spatial distribution pattern is contagious distribution.The pollen vigor is high in the early pollen dispersal period, then decreased in the end period. There are two higher density in pollination period. The stepwise regression analysis of daily pollen density and meteorological factors shows, the pollen dispersal density is affected by temperature and humidity, wind force is not primary factor.;The pollen density of different direction is affected by the main wind direction, 58.07% of pollen comes from the main wind direction. The longest spread distance of pollen is 7m and spatial distribution pattern is contagious distribution. Pollen density has close correlation with bearing rate. the pollen density around female flower changed from 81.59 grain/cm2.d~436.94 grain/cm2.d, the transformation rate of flowering to fruiting changed from 0 to31.25%.The results showed that the flowering synchrony, numbers of reproductive modules, female-male proportion and distribution pattern ,pollen vigor, pollen spreading and space distribution characteristics have effect on the seed quantity.
