The Study On Plantscape Of Rhododendron Fortunei Communities In Yangmingshan In Hunan

There is a long history of several 10 million years for Rhododendron to be on the Earth.It is one of four famous flowers in world, also is one of three natural flowers and ten traditional flowers in our country. The Yangmingshan mountains are the branch range of the Nanling mountains,located the north west in Hunan Province.The geographical position for the north latitude 26°02 ' 00 "-~26o06 ' 15",east longitude lll°51' 36 "~~111°57 ' 36",total area 11267.9ha. Rhododendron resources are more abundant in Yangmingshan in Hunan. Among Rhododendron. L. in yangmingshan,The landscape characteristic of Rh.fortunei is prominent.The author has surveryed the species composition,tree stratum and structure of Rhododendron fortunei communities on Yangmingshan mountains top. Emphasis are made on the three aspects: Yangmingshan mountains azaleas germplasm resources; Structures and pattern distributions of coeopopulation and phytosociological characteristics of Rhododendron fortunei communities.The findings indicate:(1)Rhododendron fortunei communities in Yangmingshan moutains in Hunan is a typically zonal mossy dwarf forest.(2)Owing to its rich resources, Rhododendron in Yangmingshan moutains has a certain status in Hunan. Its vertical distribution is from elevation 210m to 1625m,including 2 endemic to the Yangmingshan Mountains.(3)The leaves,flowers and fruits of Rhododendron fortunei in Yangmingshan moutains are beautiful. Its basic trunk growth is medium.But height growth is relatively slow,which shows growth characteristics of mossy forest.(4)The distribution pattern type of Rhododendron fortunei population in Yangmingshan in Hunan is cluster and aggregated intensity is high.
