| M. rossenbergii was introduced and cultured in Yangzhou 13 years ago. In 2005, the total culture area is 8667hm~2. The annual production was 39,000 MT, which accounts 35% of the total production of M. rossenbergii in China. Yangzhou became the most important production base of M. rossenbergii in China. With the development of culture technology, unit production was increased year by year; the culture area was also fast extended. The stocking model of M. rossenbergii was improved and optimalized in Yangzhou. Compared with the stocking model of 10 years ago, stocking small size seed with body length of 0.8 cm and one time havest only, now the mixed-age stocking, continueing supply to market, nursing seed in greenhouse for large-size juvenile were the major character. To compare the economic efficiency of different stocking model, the optimum stocking model will be concluded. And promoting the optimum stocking model and technology will guide for a better production management, thus to enhance the health and sustainable development of M. rosenbergii in Yangzhou.In Yangzhou, the following practice was proved of the best economic return: nursing shrimp seed in greenhouse from March/April to May, then stocking the large-size seed at 77,000 ind/mu (convert to seed number when BL=0.8cm) in pond, apply multi-harvest when shrimp reach the size of 15 g and continue supply to market. In this model, the yield can achieve 300kg/mu.There were some disadvantages occurred with the fast development of M. rosenbergii culture in Yangzhou, such as the seed degeneration, environemment deterioration, disease outbreak, etc. To sustain the shrimp development in Yangzhou, the strategies of genetic improvement, environment control were discussed. For the sucessdully complement of the industry chain, the development of processing and market price control policy have also been discussed. |
