The studies were conducted from 2004 to 2005 at Shandong Agriculture University. In this paper, a method was developed for the determination of Cd and Pb by ICP-AES, and the content of Cd and Pb were investigated in the root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge grown in Shandong Province. In order to seek a good method of decreasing Cd toxicity and a method of increasing the yield and quality , the physiological regulative mechanism of calcium on Cd tolerance were studied in the Nutrient solution culture experiment in Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. The main results were as follows:In this paper, a method was developed for the determination of Cd and Pb by ICP-AES. The effects of two different sample treatment methods including wet digestion method and dry ash method were compared. The results showed that it is satisfactory to the determination of Cd and Pb by ICP-AES with the detection limits (DL) of 1.92ng/mL and 1.07ng/mL, the precision values (RSD) of 3.14% and 1.83% and the recovery rates of 103.0% and 96.2%.The wet digestion method is better than the dry ash method for its lower RSD and higher recovery rate. The dry ash method is suitable for determination of Pb, but not suitable for the determination of Cd for its low recovery rate. The results also show that the contents of Cd and Pb in Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge are lower than the standard of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2005) greatly with the wet digestion method by ICP-AES, which meets the standard of GAP production.Ca could relax the toxicity of Cd2+ to Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge , On the one hand , Ca could compete the absorption point of Cd to inhibit absorption of Cd2+, the evidence is that Ca decreased the content of Cd in the sub-cellular components of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge, and it had the time domino effect. on...
