Due to the problem of narrow temprate maize germplasm and most of abundant lysine maize mith soft albumen existing, in the paper,by NCⅡmating design, 25 normal temperature maize inbred lines were crossed with four testers which are key tropical maize inbred lines .CML171(QPM) and CML166(QPM) come from CIMMYT, YML145 and YML146 coming from Thailand are normal maize inbred lines which are bred by Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. CML171×CML166 and YML145×YML146 have high special combining ability(SCA). The 100 crosses were evaluated in three different environments of Yunnan province. 25 temperate normal maize inbred lines and four testers'SCA of single plant yield were studied and general combining ability (GCA) of single plant yield, plant height, ear height, ear length, numbers of row per ear(R/E), thousand-seed weight(TSW) et al.were evaluated. The main results of this study were summarized as follows:1. The crosses of Zheng58×YML146,Zi330×YML146,Tie7922×YML146,K1218×YML145,Ye107×YML146,81515×YML146,DS01×YML146,Liao3180×YML145,87-1×YML145,Dan340×YML146 and Zong3×YML145 performed higher yield among 100 normal temperate×tropical maize crosses.Inbred lines Zheng58,YML146,YML145,Dan340,K22,Huangzaosi,Xi502 and Tie7922 had higher yield GCA and involved to produce high yielding combinations, the eight lines will be elite lines in hybrid Yunnan breeding program and commercial production in China.2. According to the GCA of plant traits, ear traits and yield single plant et al, inbred lines Zheng58,Zi330,Tie7922,K1218,Ye107,81515 and DS01 were excellent lines and possessed higher yield GCA, and they will be used to improve the corresponding groups'germplasm.3. According to the GCA of yield single plant, YML146﹥YML145﹥CML171﹥CML166, The combining ability of normal tropical maize inbred lines are higher than that of the lines of QPM, the study indicated that tropical maize lines are excellent germplasm to broad temperate maize genetic background.
