In order to appraise the security of the propolis, we processed more systemic studies of toxicological trial with Kunming mice in propolis. It included acute toxicity test, accumulative toxicity test, subacute toxicity test, feeding teratogenesis test and mutagenic test. In this trial, expect the acute toxicity test, the other testing groups were added propolis respectively by single, duple, treble dose (namely 3mg/kg, 6mg/kg, 9mg/kg) of the feeding amounts into the normal diets. The control group was additional.The acute toxicity test indicated LD50 was superior to 24g/kg. So we concluded that the propolis was a kind of innoxious material. The accumulative toxicity test indicated there were not exceptional behaviours and death in Kunming mice. It showed that the propolis hadn't accumulative toxicity.In the ninety days feeding test of subacute toxicity test, the mice of forty-five days and ninety days after given propolis were examined hematology index, biochemical index, viscera coefficients and the pathological back-checks of organs. The test of feeding for forty-five days indicated that the leucocyte of the high dose group was most evidently high than middle dose group and compared group. PDW of middle dose group was evidently high than compared group. Other indexes were not distinct. The test of feeding for ninety days indicated that leucocyte of the high dose group was most evidently low than middle dose group and compared group. Other indexes were not distinct. The results indicated the propolis had some effects on Kunming mice with feeding propolis for a long time.In the feeding and progenitive toxicity test, the mice were examined the pregnant rate, gravidity rate, the weight of pregnant mice, the livability of birth, the livability of lactation and so on. At the same time, we execute the mice termly to examinehematology index, biochemical index, viscera coefficients and the pathological back-checks of organs. The results about the mice of Fl generation indicated that PDW of low dose group and high dose group was most evidently high than compared group . MPV of low dose was most evidently high than high dose group , the high dose group was most evidently high than compared group. And the result of MPV was in normal hematology index. Other indexes were not distinct. The tests indicated the propolis had some effects on the propagating of Kunming mice with feeding propolis for a long time.In feeding teratogenesis test, the pregnant mice were examined the numbers of embryos accreting to uterus, numbers of live embryos, numbers of absorbed embryos, numbers of dead embryos, body weight, body length, the length of tail, colour, shapes and the entrails and bones of fetal mice. The results indicated that the testing groups were not distinct than compared group. We concluded that propilis hadn't leading abnormality.In mutagenic test, the results of Sperm abnormalily and micronucleus tests were also negative, they indicated propolis hadn't mutagenic toxicity.The above results indicated propolis was a kind of safe feed additive.
