Chinese forest frog (Rana chensinensis)is one of the amphibian which have been known for food medicine and tonic. It is a kind of important frog in China and one of the rare medical animals of Heilongjiang Province. The oviducts of female Chinese forest frog is main production of Chinese forest frog, indicate the value of Chinese forest frog. Therefore, it is very important to study the oviduct weight of Chinese forest frog.In order to directly predict the oviduct weight of Chinese forest frog by morphological character, the relationships among body weight, body length, forelimb length, posterior limb length, egg weight, age and oviduct weight (total weights of the left and right oviducts) of female Chinese forest frog were investigated by the method of one-way analysis and stepwise regression in the middle regions of Heilongjiang Province from April to May and Suptember to October in 2004.This paper used the bone tissue slice aging the Chinese forest frog. The age of experimental groups were estimated by observation the annual ring of backbone thighboneand the third phalange tissue slice based on the control group. The results in spring were showed that oviduct weight was positively related to body weight, body length, forelimb length, posterior limb length, egg weight, and age; and oviduct weight had significantly positive relation to body weight and body length, and the regression equation: y = -0.566+0.016 x1 + 0.072x2 was modeled (x1 = body weight, and X2 = body length). Therefore, body weight and body length as the important indexes measured can predict the oviduct weight. The results in autumn were showed that oviduct weight was positively related to body weight, body length, forelimb length, posterior limb length and age; and oviduct weight had significantly positive relation to body weight and posterior limb length, and the regression equation: y = 1.16 + 0.08119x1 -0.224x2 was modeled (x1 = body weight, and X2= body length). It showed that body weight and posterior limb length may predict the oviduct weight. The main recults were revealed as follows as:(1) It was exact and credible that aging the Chinese forest frog by the annual ring of bone;(2) The body weight can predict the oviduct weight of Chinese forest frog , namely the more body weight, the more oviduct weight;(3) The 3-4 years old Chinese forest frog had the most oviduct weight;(4) The oviduct weight of Chinese forest frog in autumn was more than that of those in spring significantly. Therefore, collecting the oviduct should be planed in autumn;(5) In order to obtain the more oviducts weight of Chinese forest frog, it was import to increase nutrition supply in cultivation and try to make the bodily form of Chinese forest frog more corpulent to add the oviduct weight of Chinese forest frog.
