Selenium is one of the most important nutrient elements to life and it is distributed wildly but extremely unevenly on the earth. 2/3 of areas is short of selenium in the world and so does in china, of which 1/3 is authenticated to be grievous devoid of selenium. Human and animal' Selenium nutritive level lies on Se content in foods. The plants have significant role in the natural selenium cycle and transform the inorganic selenium are converted into the organic selenium, it is also direct selenium resource to the human and the animal. Because of selenium lacking in the plants and soil, the lack of selenium resulted in dozens of diseases, this seriously threat the health of human and the development of animal husbandry. It is momentous to improve the selenium level of food chain for the health of human.Taking red clover as sample with soil culture in pot Using many chemical, physiological and biochemical methods, article systematically studied the selenium application on red clover, using atom absorption spectrometry to detect selenium, the author studied the following parameters in red clover: the trends of absorption, accumulation, distribution of selenium in red clover and the endurance ability of red clover to the selenium in the environment; the effect of different concentration selenium treatment on the growth and development, the accumulation of dry matter and selenium, yield and selenium content. According to the measurement on the activity of root system, GSH-Px, SOD, the content of GSH, lipid peroxide production, and the analyzing on the content of chlorophyll, water-soluble protein, Vc, this article studied the physiological function and exterior mechanism of selenium in organic body and effect on its resistance. By using fractional salting-out precipitation ,the author attempted to extract , separate the protein containing selenium and probed the occurrence form of selenium in red clover. The result indicated:The red clover could positively absorb and accumulate selenium in the environment even with high selenium content. The accumulation became stronger following the plant development. The selenium was absorbed by the root system and transferred to different organ and accumulated there. The selenium contents in different organ increased following...
