| Since 1970, the cultivate area and yield of the cucumber in China have been in the first place in the world, but the yield per unit area has been very low. To investigate the reason, it is found that the diseases and insect pests are the main factors that affect the production of cucumber. In our country, the actuality of agricultural production is that the cultural quality of farmers is low, expert agricultural technicians are scarce and methods of agricultural popularization are quite outdated. Without any necessary guidance in the production process, farmers promote the yield simply through increasing the times and dosage of pesticide. So it is quite common that chemical pesticide is abused in cucumber cultivation. This situation not only prevents the export of cucumber, but also endangers people's health seriously.With the coming of the information age, information technology such as network and artificial intelligence gains rapid development. The infiltration of these technologies into the field of agriculture offers important methods to solve the problem mentioned above and brings new developmental chance for cucumber production. This study applies expert system, an agricultural information technology, to establish the harmless control expert system of cucumber's diseases & insect pests in the south-central part of China. This system mainly aims at diseases & insect pests of cucumber in south-central area, taking Hunan Province as a representative, and discusses the diagnosis and harmless control strategy of cucumber's diseases & insect pests. According to the knowledge gained from experts, books and various literatures, a series of relative database, knowledge base and rules base has been set up. Through the man-machine conversation and reasoning mechanism, the system supplies decision support of diagnosis of cucumber's diseases & insect pests and harmless control in order to overcome the blindness of former decision and to teach farmers how to control diseases & insect pests scientifically.The system includes following subsystems as disease position diagnosis & harmless control, disease period diagnosis & harmless control, insect pest diagnosis & harmless control and so on. |
