Whangkeumbae and Yali pear was trated with paraffin-wax cut-section and transmission electron microscopy to investigate the differences of cell structure and the change of the cell structure on ripening and senescing of Whangkeumbae and Yali pear, nobagged Yali pear and bagged Yali pear. The result of the experiment will provide theoretic gist of cell on ripening and senescing. The main results were as follow:1.There are great differences between Whangkeumbae and nobagged Yali pear in organic structure. The cuticle of Yali pear is thick, and Whangkeumbae is thin. There is some obvious differentiation in epidermal cell and subepidermal cell of different breeds. The epidermis cell of nobagged Yali is rectangle and triangle, and that of Whangkeumbae is long and narrow round. The subepidermal cell of nobagged Yali pear consist of 4-5 layers cells which contain a great quantity of tannin and it could be dyed easily, while that of Whangkeumbae consist of 1-2 layers cells which could be dyed hard. The parenchyma of nobagged Yali pear is ellipse, and the space between epidermal cells is big, that of Whangkeumbae is round. There are many and large groups of stone cells and in flesh of Yali, while there are few and small groups of stone cells in Whangkeumbae.2.There are great differences between bagged Yali pear and nobagged Yali pear in organic structure. The cuticle of the nobagged Yali pear is thick, and the cuticle and waxiness are asymmetrical distributing and they inset the space of the epidermal cell. The cuticle of the bagged Yali pear is thin, and it is asymmetrical distributing and it dose not insert the space of the epidermal cell. The epidermal cell of bagged Yali is square and the length of the cell is small in proportion to its breadth, while that of nobagged Yali pear is rectangle and triangle and the length of the cell is big in proportion to its breadth. There are few and small groups of stone cells and their diameter are big in flesh of nobagged Yali ,while there are many and large groups of stone cells and their diameter are small in bagged Yali.3.The mature fruit of pear all have big vacuole, cytoplasm and cell content are dense and...
