Sesame was one of the main oil and industrial crops in China. It was also the superior crop for the structure adjusting in agriculture and the foreign exchange earning through export. A large quantity of improved varieties have been bred when the sesame breeding began in 1950s. The deficiency of integrated cultivation techniques in actual production affected the potential yield and quality of the new variety.In recent years, as the sesame's industrialization, higher requirement has been put forward for its high yield. In order to seek the integrated cultivation techniques of Zhongzhi No.l 1 at Jianghan plain, and offer basis for popularizing the scientific culture of the new variety, a lot of experiments based on the sowing date, planting density and topping treatment of Zhongzhi No.l 1 were carried out.In the experiment on sowing date and density was split plot design with two test factors: the sowing date with 6 levels (treatment A, the main plot) and the planting density with 5 levels (treatment B, the split plot). The result showed that different sowing date and density had significant difference to yield. From early May to early June was the appropriate sowing date at Jianghan plain; The suitable planting density was 12,0000-16,0000 seedlings/hm2 in the field with medium level fertility, and the yield level could be at the range of 867.33-1283.33kg/ hm2.Using Zhongzhi No. 11 as experiment materials, the topping experiment had 6 treatments with random complete block design and 4 replications. 6 treatments were respectively as follows: 15d after the initial flowering date, 20d after the initial flowering date, 25d after the initial flowering date, 30d after the initial flowering date, 35d after the initial flowering date. The result of the topping treatment experiment by stages of Zhongzhi No. 11 showed that top cutting was helpful for improving the yield and the quality of sesame; the suitable top cutting date was from 25d to 30d after the initial flowering date.
