The analysis of nutrient resources balance in Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces was studied by using the statistical data and the investigation data of these provinces in 2002. The main result of the income is as follows:1. Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces were the main fertilizer production and consumption provinces in China. However, the production can't match the consumption of fertilizer in these provinces. The phosphorus production was in average level in china, but its' consumption was primary in China. On the phosphorus fertilizer consumption (P2O5) and production's area distributing, the Hebei south counties' consumption was higher than the other counties'. The consumption in middle part of Henan mostly was over 10×104 tons. The Shandong' east phosphorus consumption was higher too. Shandong was the primary potassic fertilizer production province in china. Hebei, Henan and Shandong province potassic fertilizer consumption was 119.09×104 tons. The postassic fertilizer consumption was higher then production in these provinces.2. Nearly 364.38×104tons of nitrogen has been estimated as inputs from different sources, with output nitrogen from harvested crops of about 255.07×104tons. The soil surface nitrogen balance, estimated as inputs minus outputs, was found to be about 109.31×104 tons surplus from the Winter Wheat/Summer Maize Rotation System at Hebei, Henan and Shandong province. Fertilizer constituted a major percentage of total inputs, followed by organic fertilizer (13.0%). Nitrogen balance varied from deficit to surplus for different areas, the average was 128.94kg/ha. The highest nitrogen surplus was found in Shandong province. The soil surface phosphorus balance was found to be about 31.13×104 tons surplus from the Winter Wheat/Summer Maize Rotation System at Hebei, Henan and Shandong province, and the average is 52.19kg/ha.. Fertilizer constituted a major percentage of total inputs (71.0%), followed by organic fertilizer (29.0%). Phosphorus balance varied from deficit to surplus for different areas. The mostly phosphorus surplus was found in Shandong province and in part of Hebei, Henan. These results, obtained from nutrient mass balance calculations, will be useful to formulate nutrient management plans relating to fertilizer usage, livestock management and for adopting some best management strategies at a state level in China.3. The fertilizer variety consumption and area for wheat and corn in Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces were studied by using the investigation data of Hebei Province in2002. It had been shown that wheat's quantity of chemical fertilizer is superior to corn's, which was owning to wheat is the main food supplies. Farmers believe that the more fertilizer the more yield. In winter wheat, the main basal fertilizer was DAP in Hebei, and the other mixed or compound fertilizer was the main basal fertilizer in Henan and Shandong. All of these provinces' top dressing was urea. The maize's primary basal fertilizer was DAP and the other mixed or compound fertilizers in these provinces, and top dressing was urea. The irrational distribution of fertilizers directly reduced the fertilizer use efficiency. For improving the fertilizers use efficiency, we must improve the farmers' culture, and guidance them to fertilize scientifically. On the other hand, the fertilizer enterprises had to face the market actively. They should produce the different fertilizers for the different crops.
