Expert system based on network for the consultation of insect pest of sugar beet is set up by using Visual Foxpro. The system including insect pest inquire and insect pest diagnose two parts mainly. The system is consisted of four parts. They are the management module, the forecast module, the prevention and cure decision module and the database explanation module. The four parts constitute a-comparatively-intact system to guide how to discern, inquire, prevent & cure and use medicine to sugar beet insect pests. The system has offered a systematic expert's consultation and decision system for fast diagnosis, scientifical prevention and cure, comprehensive administration to the insect pests of sugar beet. The research of the expert system is collection, arrangement course of expressing and integrated application of the information material in fact. In the database system, enriched degree of information of the knowledge base's, information source and accuracy, scientificity and suitability are the key to determining systematic function and level. So, knowledge acquisition is always considered as "bottleneck" of development of expert system, and it is the key to influencing the expert system and succeeding or not. Because the knowledge type of the sugar beet insect pest expert system is complicated, in order to guarantee accuracy and practicability that knowledge expresses, guarantee the standardization of knowledge information again at the same time, accord with the data information reasoning of the computer and processing demand searched, database materials must on the basis of collecting in many kinds of way. And the system should have the complemented function of studying and managing interface supplementary, deleting and fixing etc. The database includes insect pest's database, chemical database and several dynamic databases mainly. On the basis of summarizing sugar beet knowledge, the expertise and a large number of research results, this system has chosen 70 kinds of main insect pests in beet production as the basic database. The content involves insect pest's name, category, characteristic, typical behavior, life cycle, habits, occurrence environment, occurrence position, period of occurrence, prevent and cure characters material, picture and video of method. The knowledge base of chemical includes: Prevent and cure (including curing mainly, and concurrently managing) target, using dosage, diluting the multiple, security interval, precautions, etc. In reasoning tactics, the system combines choose drive with goal drive. It means adopting positive and negative module mode together. Thus, make the system operation simple and convenient to be practical. According to the integrality of the expresses of the interface knowledge in the reasoning process and the demand degree of the different level of knowledge from user, the diagnosis of the system is divided into search mode and keyword mode. Search mode is a judgment module leaded by systematic procedure, user can choose insect pest by its occurred position and typical symptom according to interface prompt. Then utilize the tactics of reasoning facing target, and draw on the corresponding insect pest name and detailed information positive and negatively to reasoning; Keyword diagnose way choose according to user or keyword that input match, through drawing the name of insect pest with these symptoms and other information positive and negatively to reason. This structural design of the system is more rational, the comprehensive function is relatively strong, and has certain using value.
