Eighteen SSR primers were used to detect the genetic diversity among 24 cassava genotypes, and total 154 bands were obtained, and 148 of them were polymophic. The average bands per SSR locus were 8.6 with a range from 5 to 12. The mean similarity coefficient of the 24 cassava genotypes was 0.695, varying from 0.510 to 0.967. The similarity coefficients of most genotypes exceeded 0.70, which indicated the genetic background of the cassava germplasm was relatively limited. A UPGMA relationship tree was established based on the similarity coefficients. At the level 0.78, the 24 cassava genotypes were divided into three groups. Those from different countries and areas were devided obviously. Some genotypes which have different grades of dry matter of root tuber or content of starch or yield were clustered in a same group. No specific band which links to the dry matter of root tuber or content of the starch or the yield was found.
