Buffalo is the major subtropic resource of south China, it plays an important role in people' s production and lives. However, the reproductivity of swamp buffalo is very low. It' s necessary to develop a new ways to improve this animal' s reproductivity. Inhibin displays an vital role in controlling livestocks reproductivity. The inhibin contains three kinds of subunits: alpha- subunits, beta- A subunits and beta-B subunits. Studies show that they are both one of the members of transforming growth factor-β superfamily. Among them the alpha-subunits is the most important part, and it don' t work unless binding with the beta- subunits. So it' s necessary and significative to cloning and analysis the swamp buffalo inhibin alpha subunit gene. The present studies were undertaken to clon the sequence and obtain some information about this gene. Results show that We obtain 1187bp cDNA sequence including Poly (A) by RT PCR and RACE PCR from swamp buffalo ovarian total RNA. this sequence exhibits 97% homology with bovine and 84% homology with human . The genomic DNA was cloned from the ovarian genomic. It spans 3991 bp, and contains two extron and one intron. RT-PCR result shows that inhibin alpha express in most of tissues except for muscle.
