Forty-nine native bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) accessions collected from Southwest region in China and one introduced accession "Tifway"(C.dactylon C.transvaalensis) as comparison were studied to evaluate the genetic diversity on morphological and isoenzyme level, and to select some eminent bermudagrass accessions. The results showed that: (1) the twenty morphological traits including internode length and diameter of stolon, length, width and hair of leaves, stand natural height, reproductive inflorensence length, length of inflorescence, length of inflorscence-stem, number of spikelet, number of inflorescence, length of rachilla, colour of leaves, configuration-index, stalk configuration, colour of stolon, colour of anther ,colour of necking. The coefficient of average variations were significantly, which is from 10.11% to 131.53%.The analysis results of primary main element showed that: stand natural height, length, width of leaves, internode length of stolon, spikelet number of inflorescences, floret number of spikelets were the import morphological traits as evaluate the genetic diversity of bermudagrass ofSouthwest region. (2)Based on the cluster analysis of seventeen morphological traits, the fifty accessions were clustered into four types: Good traits of turfgrass type including C1 C32;Tall and strong, strong fecundity type only including C9;Thin, short internode and fine texture type including C48 T C1 C12etc, which were 25 materials; There are 21 materials including C30 C40 C4 etc, which are the middle types (3)The patterns of isozyme POD and EST electrophoresis showed that genetic diversity was high, As the genetic marker, EST is suitable for the study on genetic diversity of bermudagrass in Southwest region. Based on the relation analysis, these accessions of high latitude middle latitude low latitude region were clustered into one type respectively, and the patterns of isozyme EST were interrelated with latitude best salience, but were not interrelated with altitude. (4) evaluation the genetic diversity of bermudagrass, the results showed that: C1 has higher quality than Tifway , which can be used direct.C32 is suitable for Greenland. C9 behaved strong fecundity , and the material can be used to yield seed direct. C25 C23 C3 C22 C18 C12 C24 C39 C17 which are very good materials and need to be studied in the further.
