The trial was conducted at experiment farm of Baoxing in Baoxing county of Sichuan Province during 2001-2003 in order to cultivate high-quality, high-yield and excellent orchardgrass seed ,and find some effective high-yield painting tcchniqucs.In the trail,orchardgrass were studied on the changes of seed yield ,yield components and seed quality under the condition of different balance fertilization, different sowing date, different sowing rate,differcnt sowing distance as well as on seed vigour improvement by Polyethyleneglycol(PEG) trcatment.Simultaneously, quality test and evaluation of the seeds disposed of by different means were made in Lab.The result shows:(1) The balance fertilization had significant effect on seed yield, yield components while the highest effect of nitrogem has no remarkable impact on seed quality. And the optimal propotion of nitrogen to phosphorus and potassium was 3:1:2(N120 kg/hm2+P40 kg/hm2+K80 kg/hm2), under the condition of which, yield reach the highest- 611 kg/hm2. The result also illustrates that the Correlation between seed yield and yield compoments(except florets/spikelet) for the Equilibrium fertilization were prominent while Sccds/flowerle was primarily correlated with the seed yield.(2) In trials in Bao xing , the best time for sowing cocksfoot was Oct. 1st. Sowed on that day, the actual output and weight/1000 were the highest, respectively, 285kg/hm2 and 0.606g/1000 and the conductive were low, namely, 230 M s.cm-l.g-1 and the difference of germination was not significant. The Correlation between seed yield and fertile tillers/m2 or spikelcts per fertile tillers on the sowing date was prominent, while fertile tillers was primarily correlated with the seed yield.(3) In trials in Bao xing , the best rate for sowing cocksfoot for seed production was 2g, under the condion of which seed yield was the highest(293kg/hm2 )at the level, and the conductive were the lowest-197 u s.cm-l.g-land germination was high. The correlation between seed yield and seeds per spikelet or fertile tillers/m2 on the sowing rate were prominent while fertile tillers/m2 was primarily correlated with the seed yield.(4) Seed yield reached the highest (265kg/hm2,) when row distance was 45 cm. And the distance of 60cm had significant effect on seed yield ,yield components and seed quality, under the condition of which weight/lOOOwas the highest(0.587g)and germination was high.But the effect of sowing distance on seed yield, seed quality,and yield components is not as great as that of balance fertilization, sowing date and rate. And the results showed that the Correlation between seed yield and only spikelets per fertile tiller in yield compoments under the disposal of sowing distance was prominent while spikelets per fertile tiller was primarily correlated with the seed yield.(5) The vigor of orchardgrass seeds with different preserving time limit had improved ater treated with PEG-6000. Treatment concentration, treatment time and temperature interacted. The results showed the effect of PEG pretreatment were noticeable for promoting the seed vigour. The optimal combination of PEG soaking concentration for the orchardgrass seeds stored one year and two years were respectively 2 5% ,48h, 15,and 25%, 72h ,15.
