The effect of different amount of nitrogen applied and different period of nitrogen fertilizer applied proportion on main agronomic character, yield and grain quality were studied with mid-Japonica Diantun 502 and Indica Hexi 39 in experiment farm of panxi area, the results were as followed:The yield of Diantun 502 and Hexi 39 was increased with enhancing of amount of N-fertilizer applied. The yield of three different treatment of N-fertilizer was obviously higher than the treatment of non-nitrogen fertilizer, but the difference of yield was not significant, It was caused by the high of organic matter content, three different treatment of N-fertilizer were high N (315kg/hm2), mid N (210kg/hm2) and low N (105kg/hm2). The yield of rice was extremely notability effected in different period of nitrogen fertilizer applied proportion, the yie'd was the most higher when the proportion of basic tiller and panicle fertilizer was 6 : 4. then 8 : 2 was and 10 '?0 was lowest, the yield was obviously increased with proper enhancing of nitrogen fertilizer applied proportion, the yield of two varieties existed in extremely difference in different treatment of amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied proportion, the difference of yield was not significant in different of amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied in Diantun 502, the yield of Hexi 39 was increased with enhancing of amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied, it showed that two varieties was not consistent with the reaction and sensitivity of N-fertilizer.Path analysis was carried out for yield and yield constitutes factor the results showed that effective panicle was key factor to determining the yield of rice among the yield constitutes factor, actual grain number, born rice rate, 1000-grain weight influenced the yield of rice by indirect function generally. The project was increase of number of effective panicle, effective panicle of Hexi 39 increased with the enhancing of amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied, thus the yield was also enhanced, effective panicle of mid N-fertilizer treatment was higher than that of high N-fertilizer treatment, two varieties were not consistent with different period of nitrogen fertilizer applied, effective panicle of Diantun 502 was 6 : 4>8 ? 2> 10 ? 0, difference of effective panicle of Hexi 39 was not significant, correlative analysis showed that effective panicle and yield of two varieties was significant or extremely significant positive correlation, actual grain number, born rice rate, 1000-grain weight and the yield was significant or extremely significant minus correlation, effective panicle was the key factor to determining the yield of rice in panxi area, formation of yield was based on enhancing of effective panicle, the total of effective panicle continued to increasing , it effected the filling of grain and actual grain number, born rice rate, 1000-grain weight was gradually become low. The yield was decreased.Protein content was obviously increased through enhancing of amount of N-fertilizer applied, head rice rate, chalky rice rate, chalkiness, amylose content and Gel consistency were extremely difference in two varieties, head rice rate and amylose content of Diantun 502 decreased with enhancing of amount of N-fertilizer applied, head rice rate and amylose content of Hex! 39 increased with enhancing of amount of N-fertilizer applied. Effect of chalky rice rate, chalkiness and Gel consistency was not consistent among varieties, quality of rice existed in obviously effection in different period of nitrogen fertilizer applied proportion, protein content was increased with enhancing of heading fertilizer in the same N-fertilizer applied, protein content was 6 '?4>8 : 2>10 ?0, amylose content of 6-4 treatment was lower than that of other treatment, thus protein content increased and amylose content decreased when basic tiller and panicle fertilizer was 6 ? 4. total-N content was determined by supply of soil and need of cropping.
