The distribution patterns of plant biodiversity were studied on the two kinds of ecotones between forests and swamps in the Mudanjiang forest region by using transect and Shannon-wiener, Simpson, pielou Jsw, pielou Jsi index method. In order to understand the distribution patterns of plant biodiversity along the miosture environmental gradients or along vertical layers of communities on the Betula platyphylla-swamp econtone and Alnus hirsute, Betula platyphylla -swamp ecotone in this region. The research results show that: ï¹–he distribution patterns of plant biodiversity are very different between Alnus hirsute, Betula platyphylla-swamp ecotones and Betula platyphylla-swamp ecotones along the hydrological environmental gradients from swamp to forest. The plant biodiversity of the forest-swamp ecotones communities are as much 2~3 times as that of near swamp, and as 1.5 times as that of forest on the Alnus hirsute, Betula platyphylla-swamp ecotones. On the contrary, it is only as much 80% as that of near swamp or forest on the Betula platyphylla-swamp ecotones. This is because the latter was severely disturbed by man activity.(2)the vertical distribution patterns of plant biodiversity are also very different among tree layer, shrub layer and herbage layer on the two kinds of forest-swamp ecotones. The plant biodiversity in the herbage layers is highest, it higher in the shrub layer, it lowest in the tree layer on the former. Otherwise, although the plant biodiversity of herbage layers still is highest, the other all lower on the latter. (3) providing plant lists about the ecotones between forest and swamp in this region.
