To the question of recovery of vegetation and management of plantation in Nenjiang desertificated area, many trials, such as species selection, resistant to drought, frozen injury, diseases and pests as well as the water balance of scots pine plantation, have been carried out in this paper by taking synthetic methods including field investigation and observation. Results are as follows: 16 tree species, i.e. scots pine, which present more resistance to serious environment, have been selected to be used for planting in this area. Meanwhile, main suitable tree species for different sandlot types have been selected. The model of relationships between the transpiration rate and climatic factors including sunlight intensity, air temperature, air moisture and wind speed is presented. The soil moisture content in different stands of scots pine plantation is much higher than that in unforested site during the growing season. It is very significant for the balance of soil moisture content in different stands. The budget of soil moisture content in the stand of 625 individuals per hectare is 20.9mm during the observed year, but only 5.7mm for the stand of 1250 individuals per hectare. But the budget of soil moisture content in the stands of 313 and 2250 individuals per hectare is negative, which is 28.4mm and 45.2mm respectively. In the end, it presents that the stand density range from 625 to 1250 is more suitable for plantation management in Nenjiang desertificated area .
