The important function region of the fusion gene of thirty-seven Newcastle disease(ND) virus(NDV) isolates which were recovered from ND outbreaks in chicken and pigeon blocks in past areas of China were amplified by one step RT-PCR.535-nt sequence analysis between nt 47-581 was used to compare the 37 isolates for genetic analysis. A phylogenic tree was constructed based on the 535-nt sequence data of thirty-seven isolates in the study and fourteen NDV reference strains from Genbank and published resources. The phylogenetic analysis by Software DNAStar showed that these isolates belonged to five genetic groups,twenty-five isolates were placed into genotype VII,six isolates were placed into genotype II,three isolates were placed into genotype VI, two isolates were placed into genotype III, one isolate was placed into genotype I. The Nucleotides similarity(%) analysis showed that,twenty-five isolates designed as genotype VII were very similar with Ch(2000) and Tw(2000). The results showed that genotype VII viruses were the predominant ND viruses responsible for field outbreaks in China in recent years. Meanwhile, This rpeport found that three strains was the hybrid of genotype VII and VI.
