| Gladiolus cultivar 'Traderhorn' and 'Advanced Red" were used to investigate the growth and development of stolon and cormel, changes of starch and soluble protein content during stolon development in the field with different planting times. Meanwhile, studied the factors which affected cormel formation in vitro. The results showed as follows:(1) Stolon come from the axillary buds which located at the basal nodes of new corm, it's tip swelled and formed cormels. There were six nodes with sheath leaf from bottom to top on new corm could form stolons, and middle ones grew more vigorously. Stolon took place at 4 ~ 6 leaf stage before spike emerged, cormels appeared after planting 90 to 110 days.(2) The numbers of stolon increased in the trend of "slow-fast-slow", but the increasing of cormel number was almost linearity. Yield of cormel was improved by delaying planting time to the end of May. There was close relationship between fresh weight of stolon with cormel and new corm , that is increase in fresh weight of stolon and cormel followed the conn's at early and middle stage, but surpassed it finally.(3) Soluble protein content increased during stolon elongating , starch content increased qickly during stolon swelling.(4) Sugar was the key factor for new corm formation /; vitro. Growthing of new corm and sprouting of axillary buds were promoted by BA , and branches from axillary buds formed also promoted by BA. Cormel formation was induced by PP.vo, the critical concentration of it's function was between 0.5 mg/L and l.0mg/L, 5.0mg/L was the best treatment for cormel formation . |
