In this experiment, the effect of feeding FOS on growth performance, endocrine, immunity and cecal microbial ecology were investigated in Jiangcun-Yellow broilers of 0-6 weeks old.96 Jiangcun-Yellow male broilers of day-old were assigned randomly allotted to four treatments, with four replicate pens per treatment and six chicks per pen. Chicks were fed either corn-soybean meal basal diet (control) or the basal diet plus 0.09% FOS, 0.15% FOS, or 75mg/kg CTC. All chicks had access to feed and water ad libitum during the 6-wk experiment.At the end of the experiment, eight chicks per treatment were randomly chosen, collection the blood samples from heart before killed those birds, gather other samples, and were analyzed. The data were analyses according to the General Linear Models (GLM) procedure of SAS.The results indicated that FOS not enhanced Jiangcun-Yellow growth performance (P>0.05) during the whole experiment, but FOS enhanced growth performance during the initial 4wk, no further effects were detected during the latter 2 wk of the experiment.The results showed that no significant was found in serum T3 of 42-day old Jiangcun-Yellow supplement 0.09% FOS or 0.15% FOS. Chicks supplement 0.09% FOS decreased serum T4 (P>0.05) and IGF- I (P>0.05), but T3/T4 ratio (P>0.05) and GH(P>0.05) were increased; chicks supplement 0.15% FOS also decrease serum T4 (P<0.05), but T3/T4 ratio (P<0.05), GH(P>0.05) and IGF- I (P<0.01) were increased.The combination of growth performance and endocrine show one fact there was no linear relation between GH or IGF- I and growth performance of Jiangcun-Yellow broilers.The results also showed that thymus, Bursa.F., and their indexes were increased, spleen and its index were decreased, but they weren't significant. The experiment also showed that activity of blood mononuclear leucocyte were increased (P>0.05), and NDV HI antibody liter were increased (P<0.01).According to the results of cecal tonsil which marked with FITC-Goat-Anti-Chicken-IgA, SIgA secretory cell were significantly increased for the Jiangcun-Yellow broilers supplement 0.09% FOS or 0.15% FOS versus the control.The results of this experiment showed that effect of FOS on Microbial flora ofABSTRACTJiangcun-Yellow broilers. By contrast, addition of 0.09% FOS or 0.15 %FOS significantly increased concentration of Bifidobacterium in ceca, no effect was found on concentration of Escherichia coli and salmonella. And no effect was found on morphology of ceca.
