Polymorphisms Of LEPR Gene And Its Correlation With Reproduction And Growth Performance In Pigs

A study on the polymorphisms of LEPR gene in Erhualian, Xiangzhu, Pietran, Large White, Duroc and Landracex Erhualian (Meishan) crossbreeds, by means of PCR-SSCP. The difference of piglet born alive per litter and their growth performances between different genotypes and the polymorphisms of LEPR gene in different breeds were analysized. Our main purpose is to find the correlation of LEPR gene with reproduction and growth performance and identify a molecular markers for pig breeding to lay the foundation for MAS (Marker-assisted selection) oThe results showed that there were aboundant polymorphisms of LEPR gene , with the genotypes of LEPR gene being A A BB and AB.The polymorphism was the most abundants in Erhualian, 3genotypes(AA,BB and AB) were found. However, there was no significant difference of litter size between different genotypes. No polymorphism of LEPR gene in exotic breeds was found with the genotype of these breeds being AA.Two kind of genotypes(AA and AB) were found in Landrace X Erhualian(Meishan) crossbreeds, Variance analysis revealed that LEPR gene had a high linkage with their growth performance.The 20 days weight of AA genotype animals was 0.406Kg higher than that of AB genotype.Sequence analysis showed that there was a site mutation (A-G) in AA genotype and BB genotype.
