Based on the average number of insect gall in each tree and the average weight of pupa of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus harming different breeds, by cluster analysis, the eight key breeds in the cuttings orchar of Castanea henry i (Skan) Rehd. et Wils. in Jian'ou county are classified. As a result, we think two breeds, Jiajiemaozhen and Hongzizhen, have relatively strong resistance against Dryocosmus kuriphilus . Zhongjianzui and Wukechangmang are responsive to Dryocosmus kuriphilus .By principal component analysis, combining (Xi), the average number of insect gall in each tree and ( \2 ), The average weight of pupa of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus harming different breeds, we can get an index-the index of harm, (Y)=0.9693(Xi)+0.9693(X2). From the Castanea henryi's avoiding and antibiosis against Dryocosmus kuriphilus, the index of harm describes the state of Castanea henryi's resistance against Dryocosmus kuriphilus. The bigger the index of harm, the more responsive it denotes Castanea henryi are to Dryocosmus kuriphilus. The smaller the index of insect pest , the stronger resistance Castanea henryi have against Dryocosmus kuriphilus.By the investigation of such norms of the eight key breeds in cuttingsorchar as the height, the long diameter, short diameter and the volume of the buds, we analyze the relations between the norms and the index of harm by regression analysis. And by the investigation of the growth rate and the rudiment stages of the various breed buds, we analyze the relations between the index of harm and the growth rate and the rudiment stages of buds. The result shows there is no obvious connection between the index of harm and the height, the long diameter, short diameter, the volume, and the rudiment stases of buds of different Castanea henryi breeds, the growth rate of hongzizhen's buds is late than other breeds, it help hongzizhen to avoid being oviposit by Dryocosmus kuriphilus.By the investigation of the length of branch growing in the very year, the quantity of buds of the eight key breeds of Castanea henryi, according to it , we work out the density of buds in the branches growing in the very year, at the same time, we measure the content of raw fiber in the branches growing in the very year, and the volume weight of phliem, xylem. By regression analysis, we analyze the relations between the index of harm and the norms above in the branches growing in the very year. The result shows the amount of the index of harm has no connection with the length of branches growing in the very year, the quantity of buds, the density of buds and the content of raw fiber. However, it has a significant linear connection with the volume weight of phliem and xylem of the branches growing in the very year. The bigger the volume weight, the smaller the index of harm, the stronger resistance the breed has against Dryocosmus kuriphilus. In order to study the influence the branches grown through years have on the Dryocosmus kuriphilus's harm, we measure the five wood5qualities, that is, moisture content, basic density, compression strength parallel to the grain, hardness and cleavage resistance. The result through regression analysis shows the index of harm has no linear connection between the five wood qualities, that is, the five wood qualities are not related to the breeds' resistance against Dryocosmus kuriphilus.By measuring the content of the seven nutrition elements, magnesium(Mg) , potassium(K) , calcium(Ca) ?manganese(Mn) , copper(Cu), nitrogen(N), phosphorus(P), in the leaves of Castanea henryi, and the content of protein, animo acid and dissolving sugar in the leaves, we analyze what effect these materials in the leaves of Castanea henryi have on the growth of Dryocosmus kuriphilus. The result by regression analysis indicates, the content of K in the leaves of Castanea henryi has significant connection with the resistance Castanea henryi have against the growth of Dryocosmus kuriphilus. The leaves of Castanea henryi which were harmed seriously by Dryocosmus kuriphilus...
