The selfing first generation(S1) of single crosses and the double crosses from representative Eight inbreeding lines:8112 478 5003 Ye107 7922 4112 97039 B73 of Maize Improved Reid population were used in selecting early selfing generation and synthesis of population .With NCâ…¡design, the combining ability of early selfing generation was determined by pho2 pho3 two high oil population, and showing of different base population Single S1 Double S0 Single S2 Double S1.The result was showed that :(1)Special genetic ability of early selfing lines was low on all traits, and special genetic ability of ear length, ear diameter, stalk height ,ear height was higher .(2) According to the general combining ability , C1,H3,F17,D2,7,110,9,A21,76,68,D9,21,6 were selected ;in these early selfing lines , 9,21,6 were best.(3)In the four methods of population synthesis, the method of Single S1 was best.And the represent of the population with the method of single S1 was best.
