The application of the artificial intelligence technology in the design and evaluation of sugar cane combine harvester is deeply researched and analyzed in this paper, the feature, method and manufacturing process of the design expert system are dissertated. Aiming at the characteristics of harvesting machinery design, the whole structure of design and evaluation expert system of sugar cane combine harvester is constructed. The aspects from the collection, acquisition, expression of knowledge, the construction, maintenance of knowledge base and the inference engine control strategy to the user interface, orientation-object modularization design, fuzzy evaluation sub-system are discussed. The primary contents are as follows:(1) In allusion to the practical conditions of working process of the sugar cane combine harvester, according to the function class and the mechanical capability of machine, construct the whole structure of design and evaluation expert system of sugar cane combine harvester based on deeper researching in harvester design field knowledge.(2) Aimed at the characteristics of the comprehensive inference engine and based on studying the traditional expression method of knowledge, an arrangement network expression method of knowledge is developed. It improves the maintaining of knowledge base, and makes the inference more efficient.(3) Different kind of inference strategies and methods are discussed. Be dead against to different field knowledge apply different inference strategy, apply different inference method to certain knowledge and uncertain knowledge, so make the design and evaluation inference more integrity.(4) Based on fuzzy set theory, an evaluation sub-system is constructed with the application of Two-order evaluation model of multiple objects and levels, realizing the general evaluation to any project in any level. The method gives attention to whole and local, provides a theoretical gist to select optimal project in multiple outputs.(5) Using the theories and methods mentioned above, the design and evaluation expert system of sugar cane combine harvester is exploited.lt has been successful used in design and evaluation, to different structure, and part, it can infer different result and evaluate the optimal one.
