ABSTRACTSelenium and Iodine play an important role in keeping the health of human beings. We will contract diseases if there's the shortage of Selenium and Iodine in our bodies. The accumulation of Selenium and Iodine by six plants(Taraxacum mongolicum Hand.-Mazz., Aegopodium alpestre Ledeb., A ilium macrostemon Bunge., Eleutherococcus senticosus Maxim., Athyrium multidentatum Ching., Matfeuccia struthiopteris Todaro.)were studied. In the same time, the accumulation and transformation of Selenium and Iodine in dark-brown soils were also studied. The amount of Iodine added to soils were 0.26, 0.87, 2.61, 4.35, 13.05g1m2 respectively After five months, the contents of Iodine in soils were more than those in CK soils and the contents of Iodine in soils increased with the amount of Iodine added to the soils. The reasonable amount of Iodine added to soils should be 2.6 i?.35g1m2. All the six plant can accumulate Iodine and the contents of Iodine in plants increased with the amount of iodine added to soils. Aegopodium alpestre Ledeb. and Eleu(herococcus senticosus Maxim. have a stronger ability of accumulating Iodine than other four plants. The amount of Selenium added to soils were 0.066, 0.222, 0.666, 2.222, 6.666g1m2 respectively. The contents of Selenium in soils increased with the increase of the amount of Selenium added to the soils. All the six plant can also accumulate Selenium and the contents ofSelenium in plants increased with the amount of Selenium added to soils, but the ability of accumulation of the six plants were different. From data of the content of Selenium of CK, we can know that Aegopodium alpestre Ledeb. and Matteuccia sfruthiopteris Todaro have a higher content of Selenium(0.42~igIg and 0.50~tgIg respectively). The content of KH2PO4 extractable Se has a directly correlation with that of total Se in plants, so KH2PO4 extractable Se can represent dark brown soils-bility of providing available Selenium. The proporation of integrated-Se to totle Se in plants was between 6.08%-~-37.84% , average 23.33% and the proporation of water soluble-Se to totle Se in plants was between 62. l2O/o~93.92%, average76.67%. The data indicates that the majority totle Se in plants is integrated-Se.
