The whitefly, Aleurotuberculatus takahashi, is an important pest on jasmine and citrus in Fuzhou, which is also used as the food for the rearing of the little black ladybird beetle Delphastus catalinae. The characters, biology, effect of temperature on developmental rate, effect of pesticide were investigated. And the methods of rearing the ladybird beetle with the whitefly were studied in the paper. The characters, harm, behaviour, eclosion rhythm and procreation were indicated by means of experiments in characters and biology of whitefly. It is showed. by determining the developmental rate at different temperatures and simulating with linear model, that the effective cumulative temperature of a generation is 691.80 degree-days, the developmental zero of whitefly抯 egg, 1St instar larva, 2nd instar larva, 3rd instar larva, 4th instar larva, preoviposition period and generation is 8.30t, 6.46t. 7.71 ~C, 7.12C, 7.68C, 7.90t, 7.64C respectively. The experiments in the effect of pesticide to whitefly showed that 90% methoprent and 3% deltantet can be used to control adult of whitefly in field, and 18% bitertanol, 90% methoprent, 10% iminoctadine, 10% alphanietbrin can be used to control larva of whitefly. The reserve experiments showed that the developmental rate of whitefly egg can be controlled through reserving for 5-10 days at lot, which was as the reserve food for Delphastus catalinae. The ladybird beetle Delphastus catalinae, originating from North America and r 44 introduced into China from UK in 1996, is the important predator of whitefly pests. The characters, biology, effect of temperature on developmental rate, predation choice and disturbance responses, low temperature reserving and the rearing method were investigated in the paper, which offered as an important reference for mass rearing and efficient utilizing of the ladybird beetle. According to the experiments in the effect of temperature on Delphastus catalinae, the developmental duration and effective cumulative temperature of each stage and the whole generation, the duration forecast equation of the ladybird beetle were founded. The experiment in predation of Delphastus catalinae showed that the ladybird beetle preferred egg of whitefly, not pupa. The predatory count of whitefly egg at different stage of Delphastus catalinae were determined at the same time. The results of disturbing responses experiment showed that the density of Delphastus catalinae had effect on predation of itself. The two main methods of rearing Delphastus catalinae, based on experiments, were assist-move rearing in bottle and rearing in greenhouse, was offered for the reference of mass rearing.
