Storage tanks are important in facilitating the petroleum storage strategy in the country,especially the Large-Scale storage tank. It is widely used in the base of the petroleum storage strategy along with the economic development. However, most tanks are filled with inflammable and explosive liquid. Once the tanks are destroyed, the leakage will negatively effect the country's economic well being. So it is very important to research the dynamic response of the storage tanks suffered by the earthquake. Up to now, the tank has proven to be resistant to earth-shock by being subject to multiple earth quakes. This will neglect the creation of earth-shock and the flow of random material throughout the tanks, which is unsuitable. The Text considers the related factors that affect the reliability of the tanks through the practical engineering and do the reliability analysis of the tanks affected by the earth-shock. Thus, it provides the evidence for the decision maker.First, according to the dynamic reaction of the storage tank under the earth-shock ,we restudy some basic theory:kinetics of liquid-solid coupling,basic equation of fluid mechanics and elastic shell theory. Do the analysis of the dynamic reaction of the tanks under the earth-shock on the basis of the theory. Considering the practical situation, the software Adina8.5.0 is used to build up an entity model of the storage tanks in different depth situations. This simulates the numerical of the dynamic reaction of the storage tanks under the earth-shock. Get the reaction rule of the storage tanks under the earth-shock.and proposed by the seismic active period the depth of the liquid inside the multiple storage tanks of liquid should be reduced(≤2/3 H 0).Secondly, we focus on the concept of reliability. Restudy the basic method in reliability calculation. Regarding the practical situation, build up the probability Model that affects the related factors of the reliability of the storage tank under the earth-shock. At the meantime we recommend the reliability Optimization Algorithm on the basis of the matlab. Use this method to do the practical case calculation. We get the same result. So this method is available.Finally, do the destroy situation analysis of the storage tank under the earth-shock. Construct the destruction model of the storage tank. Analyze the reliability of the storage tank under the different earth-shock situations and in variation of the storage depth. Find out that the deeper of the liquid and the larger of seismic intensity the less reliability of the Large-Scale storage tank .The numerical simulation results obtained are consistent under high seismic intensity. In the deep reservoir the fluid level should not exceed the design height of 2/3 full. Provide some available evidence and suggestions for the practical engineering application.
