With the development of modern mass production and the progress of science andtechnology, nuclear power plants steam turbine is becoming more and more complicated, automated and intelligent. By 2020,according to the plan, the proportion of the installedcapacity of nuclear power will be raised from 1.6% to about 5% in China's power structure, and the nuclear power capacity will reach about 40 million kilowatts. Such a large-scaledevelopment of nuclear power makes the nuclear safety have become a big challenge.Traditional monitoring system usually uses wired design. It has many unavoidableshortcomings. The main disadvantages are: wired sensors can not be installed in some partsof rotating equipment; cables are expensive and difficult to maintain; powers will interfereeach other between wired network and a lot of cables will increase the potential dangers anduncontrollability of the system, etc. With the rapid development of the MEMS, sensor technology, wireless communicationsand digital electronics technology, WSN become a new information acquisition method andprocessing mode. It is suitable to monitor remote environment, equipment and facilities, thus it has potential for a broad range of applications. In view of the nuclear power plantssteam turbine, this paper designs a vibration monitoring sensor node. As to hardware design,TI-based Stellaris ARM Cortex-M3 LM3S1138 is the main processor in our system; Themicroprocessor uses the Cortex-M3 and Thumb-2 instruction set, and it conforms to2.4GHz IEEE802.15.4. Acceleration sensor is Analog Devices Inc's new piezoelectricsensor ADXL001. Aimed at the poor conditions of Nuclear Power Plant, the paper is likelyto conduct a detailed analysis of electromagnetic interference. In the network protocol, with wireless sensor network routing protocol technology as an entry point, this paper analyses the planar and the cluster-based routing algorithm, aftercomprehensive comparison, it focuses on the improvement of LEACH routing protocol.Virtual simulation using Matlab and field data collection shows this system can collectrotating machinery vibration signals effectively.
