The earthquake is a nature disaster which can endanger the safety of the human' life and property and is also with great destroy. The earthquake not only damages the houses and causes the people death but also leads to the secondary disaster such as fire disaster and disease, which results in a great economic loss. Damage analysis is an important method to know the earthquake, Through which improving the seismic capacity can be learned. The paper is based on the damage of the a ba teachers college caused by the high intensity ground motion of wenchuan. By the observation of the damage phenomenon, the ansys software is used to creating the finite element model and analyze the time domain dynamic response of the structure, which aims at doing analysis to the earthquake damage of bell tower. The main working contents and the results are as follow:1)Getting the structure drawing and the geologic survey report of the bell tower in the a ba teachers college; Modulating the amplitude and frequency of the wenchuan seismic wave and creating the finite element model of the bell tower by reference for the literature home and abroad.2) Building a rational dynamic model which is used to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the bell tower. Analyzing the reason of the whiplash effect of the tower and shock absorption effect of the tower to the main structure from the aspect of dynamic characteristics.3)The shock absorption effect of the tower is analyzed to get the max absorption efficiency by comparing the ground motion response of the whole structure to the main structure.4) Analyzing the effect of foundation soil which is based on the contact spring model to the superstructure by reference for the literature home and abroad, through which the shock absorption effect is studied and the max absorption efficiency is obtained.5) Use SAP2000 of the finite element analysis software on the structure of the towers on the plastic, analysis, the second floor of the process of collapsing.
