Overhanging structures are the characteristic of upper part of figure which is bigger than the lower part, similarly the shrinking structure. They are also belong to the vertical irregular structures. Because of the vertical irregular of overhanging structures, it is will be reduce the structures' redundanciments. So,it is have no sufficient of the line of defence. Overhanging part will be destroy only the root of the overhanging destructiveness. And,leding to support the height of the overhanging parts, including the root of overhanging beam and the pulled of sustainment,are best to check of the intensity. In order to pledge undestroy of the bigger earthquake. Overhanging structures are the characteristic of upper part of figure is bigger than the lower part. Because of the reversement, bringing about the whole structures' rigidity relative small. Therefore,we are ought to give sufficiently importancement to this structures. Here,linking the design of Administrative centre of Xi'an Chanba River Ecological Area. It is introduces several problems of overhanging structures. Hoping it is an useful value for some similar projects.The main works of this paper are:using FEM programs of SATWE and MIDAS/Gen, building the 3—D models of the overhanging structures. By contrasting the analysis results, the changes of internal forces of the structure and seismic response of changes, the weak areas are found and strengthening configuration for those areas is presented. It makes a valuable reference for designers while designing this kind of structures.The main conclusions of this paper are:(1).overhanging parts will be led to extremely topple function. It is unfavorable for the whole structure. (2). In multi-layers building, horizontal earthquake action controls the structure response. (3). In this structure,adopting large span local transition conversion truss. In order to improve the large span local transition's seismic response,enhance the ductility of the whole structures.
