With continuously widening of engineering application area of cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls, the characteristic types of cable-strut structure are becoming more and more diversification and complication. The traditional structure design methods cannot meet the needs of engineering application any more because of its badly calculate precision, lowly calculate efficiency and difficult analysis. The structure finite element analysis (FEA) software available has many disadvantages like weak appropriability, fussy pre-processing and a premium price, and lack the ability to support integrate with CAD, parametric modeling and engineering post-processing.Firstly, based on the analysis of the FEA software available and the characteristics of cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls, the basic FEA flow of cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls is given, this paper also put forward a 4-layer software architecture blue print for FEA system for cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls, which takes AutoCAD including developed support environment of objectARX, graphic processing and kernel as the graphics-processing platform.Secondly, this paper studies the core technologies for developing the FEA system, such as forming analysis of cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls, the total stiff matrix storage and solution, parametric design and so on. According to the forming analysis of cable-strut structure, the global FEA solution which initial state analysis with twice singular value decomposition combined with load-upcondition analysis with CR formation method is proposed. On the basis the basic FEA flow of cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls, the parametric design template C-SPDT suitable for cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls is put forward, and the parametric FEA process with C-SPDT is presented, which is helpful to further developing for the system, batch commands processing and parametric design of structure analysis. Based on the analysis of the constraints of cable-strut structure model, the system is modeled for parametric in order to improve the modeling efficiency for designing cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls.Finally, based on the studies on the key technologies of the system, a finite element analysis system for cable-strut structure of point-supported curtain walls was developed. The system is characterized by strong professional, friendly operation interface, convenient operation, accurate calculation and powerful pre-processing and post-processing. The system has been applied in several enterprises, with good application effects.
