As an important component part of peaceful utilization of atomic energy, irradiation technology mainly used in food sterilization and soon. Along with polymer science develop and deep into all areas of people's life, the radiation technology in polymer has developed rapidly. Now the irradiation source is usually the 60Coγ-ray, the electron beam was seldom used .In the paper, the electron beam irradiation effect of polymer was studied. The 10kW, 10MeV electron linear accelerator was manufactured by NSRL (National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory) of USTC (University of Science and Technology of China). The degradation effect of CMC in solid state and PTFE film, the irradiation crosslink of CMC solution in different gas environments and irradiation dose rates was studied in detail. The results showed that:1. The CMC in solid state can effectively degrade by electron beam. The viscosity of 2% CMC solution prepared by irradiated CMC powder decreased with the increasing irradiated dose. When the solid-state CMC irradiated dose reached to 20kGy, the viscosity CMC solution reduced to the initial viscosity's 16.5%.When the irradiated dose up to 30kGy, the viscosity come down to the initial viscosity's 6.7%. Then the viscosity reduced slowly with the irradiated dose. The irradiation can lead to the breaking off the glucoside bond (C1-O-C4 ) by the FTIR analysis and the irradiation degradation of CMC in solid state obeys the rule of random degradation.2. The gel fraction of CMC hydrogel increased not only with the increasing concentration of CMC solution, but also with the increasing radiation dose. And the different dose rates and different gas environments (air and N2) have a little influence to the gel fraction of CMC hydrogel. The CMC hydrogel swelling ratio increased with temperature. And the CMC hydrogel showed good temperature sensitivity. The crosslink kinetics of CMC hydrogel accorded with the Charlesby-Pinner equation of Sun amendment.3. The PTFE films can effectively degrade by electron beam. It was found that the radiation decomposition of PTFE is mainly the rupture of C-C bond by FTIR, ESR and XRD analysis. The samples irradiated in low dose rate have a better effective than the samples in high dose rate. In the same irradiated dose and radiation dose rate, the samples'degradation in air superior to the samples in N2. The degradation of the PTFE by electron beam method can be used in the PTFE fine powder production process.
