Recently years, many new concepts, new types of piles and new construction technologyhave emerged in the composite pile foundation design theory. The single type of piles incomposite foundation has been developed to multi-pile type, such as rigid-flexible piles.Rigid-flexible pile composite foundation is a new form of ground treatment, in which theloads were shared by rigid piles, flexible piles and soil. But up to now, the non-linearcomputation method and working behavior of the composite pile foundation are still notperfect and illustrated sufficiently. Therefore, it is necessary to study further the analysismethod and the working mechanism of the foundation.Based on the analytical methods of raft foundation on rigid pile composite foundationwith different length and diameter, a non-linear numerical method of rigid-flexible pilecomposite foundation is studied in this paper. It is stressed to analyze optimization of therigid-flexible pile distribution plan, characteristics of the settlement and load-bearing, loadtransfer mechanism and interaction between piles and soil. Firstly, the pile was regarded aslinear elastic material and the soft as non-linear materials. Applying the finite element methodto simulate cushion and the raft, and using the interaction model of pile-soil system, anon-linear analysis method of the rigid-flexible pile composite foundation is established, andthe computation program is worked out. Secondly, the reasonability and reliability of themethod is verified by comparing with rigid-flexible pile raft foundation engineering examples.Finally, the settlement, pile axial force and pile shaft friction of the composite foundation inthe different pile layout are compared and analyzed. A lot of useful conclusions are obtained.The numerical analysis method of the composite foundation can be used in engineeringcomputation, especially in comparison of different foundation plans. The result showed itpossesses practical value in engineering.
