The traditional methods of slope stability analysis calculate the safety factor according to the force and moment balance based on the assumpted sliding surface, then reinforce the slope which with the safety factor less than the safety standards. Shortcomings of these methods are considering soil as rigid body in the process of stability analysis and design, failing to considering stress-strain relationship within, unable to analysis the process of occurrence and development of slope failure, and disregarding the interaction and compatibility of deformation。Finite element software can be used to simulate the slope under complex conditions, and one can obtain the station of stress and displacement of soil unit in the slope Most common ways of reinforcing slope are using retaining wall, anti-slide pile, anchor, soil nail and such passive retaining structure, wihtout full use of shear strength of soil, and with the increasing of active deformation of soil, effect of reinforcement decrease. However, resorting to prestressed anchor with expansion of the head to remodel the slope, we can make full use of shear strength of soil, and maintain slope stability with little cost. This paper simply describes the function of the finite element software ABAQUS and its application in geotechnical engineering, and explains the strength reduction finite element method and its realization on the ABAQUS in detail and compares the criterion of determining the limit state when simulating the slope failure with strength reduction finite element method.Exerting remoulding stress on excavated slope can mostly resume the stress condition before excavation, and increase the slope stability. This paper elaborates the basic idea of stress remolding and the way to realize it, analysis the rule of stress variation through the simulating of specific examples on the ABAQUS platform.Utilizing the variation of temperature field to control the reduction of material parameters, then calculating the safety factor of stress remoulded slope by strength reduction finite element method, use as the basis for result evaluation.By comparing the variation of safety factor of slope under different remodeling stress with different direction and size, we can find out the best way of loading.Imposing remodeling stress with different size and direction on slopes with different angles and height, then reducing the strength, we can obtain the effect of height and angle of slope on safety factor and result of stress remodeling. Meanwhile, through changing the physical parameters of soil and analysising their effects on the slope stability,we can obtain the law of safety factor varying with the parameters.
