Widely using electronic control technology engine emission, economic and power are greatly improved, and the operation feature is highly raised. Electronic throttle control system is a very important part of engine management control system. Based the rapid prototype development model, the electronic throttle control system is modeled in the MATLAB/Simulink,by the simulation the control parameters are optimized and the software of electronic throttle controller is designed using the code generation tool . Two control algorithms are adopted to design the software: traditional PID and sliding-mode control algorithm. At the same time, the controller judge which mode engine is droved in and diagnose the trouble integrated with the other sensors'signal. According to the engine mode and fault message the desired throttle opening is determined. This paper uses the code generation automatically tool Targetlink to develop the electronic throttle control system. The test results show that sliding-mode control the electronic throttle could respond rapidly and exactly the throttle opening, the performance is better than tradition PID control. The electronic throttle control system adopt different mode according to torque requirement to improve the engine operation feature.The sensor fault and electronic throttle trouble diagnosis system are designed base J 1939 protocol in this paper. Referring to the J 1939 protocol the trouble code is defined .according the characteristics and the engine principle the sensor troubles which may occur are diagnosed by self and deal with the trouble to maintain the engine operation.Misfire fault diagnosis model is a very important part of engine fault diagnosis. Based on the method of engine crank speed fluctuation, the 58X speed sensor signal is analyzed by the input capture. The cylinder tough rate was calculated and judged whether the cylinder is misfiring or not. The fault counter and probability statistics to avoid the mistake and improve the reliability.For testing the software the accurateness, the ETC test system, misfire fault generation and speed virtual signal are made based on NI integrated circuit board and software LabVIEW. The fault diagnosis system are tested using the virtual signal and data acquisition .The test results show the engine fault diagnosis system can judge the fault , show the trouble message and handle the trouble properly.The data of engine electronic control system is calibrated. Changing the point based on RPM and MAP, the tables of volume efficiency and advance spark angle were calibrated when the engine is in the steady state. According to the control strategy,transient state and EGO close loop control are calibrated .the calibration is to meet the engine power,economic,emission technique demand.
