Nowadays, the electrical power quality becomes one of the widespread attention focal point in domestic and foreign countries. With lots of electric and electronic devices and other nonlinear loads are widely put to use in industrial production, power quality of the electricity system encounters serious damage. The paper deals mainly with the designing and realizing of an on-line power quality monitor based on embedded Linux. The device can monitor power quality online, record and analyze real-time measured data, which can provide necessary evidence to improve the power quality, formulate correlative solve measure.(1)The paper introduces the research background of power quality and the development trend of the power quality research in both overseas and domestic, then power quality standards and the provisions of our various power quality indices calculation and analysis methods are introduced in detail.(2)After investigating the power quality equipment of the present market, according to the requirement of power quality monitor, the paper gives a design of a on-line power quality monitor based on embedded Linux, the design consists of two module:data acquisition and processing module and monitoring and management module, data acquisition and processing module based on DSP, is responsible for data acquisition and processing, monitoring and management module based on ARM, is responsible for the management of the whole system. This paper describes the principles of each module of the system, gives the circuit of each module.(3)The paper describes the software design of the full system, analyses the software process of data acquisition and processing, discusses the monitoring and management module based on Embedded Linux operating system, gives the various parts of the implementation process, then through the development of HPI device driver and keys driver,the system of Linux device drivers are introduced.(4)Qt/Embedded is the most popular graphics design tool in Linux operating system, the graphics interface of power quality monitor is based on Qt/Embedded development, its development process and implementation mechanism are studied in depth in this paper, the paper analyzes and designs input device interface of Qt/Embedded, On these bases, the paper designs the GUI display system of power quality monitor.Combined with the practical scientific research subject, the paper successfully develops an on-line power quality monitor based on embedded Linux. It adopts advanced and reasonable hardware framework of dual processors, embedded Linux operating system and Qt/Embedded, high speed DSP sample data, through HPI bus interface data are sent to ARM, which are analyzed and processed by Linux applications program, at last it achieves high-precision on-line power quality monitoring and analysis.
