Reverse Engineering (RE), also known as reverse engineering, is the integration from a series of adopted analytical methods and application technology when we have digested and absorbed the advanced technology. Modeling of the products in Reverse Engineering is in accordance with the following general procedure: acquiring the data-point cloud through measuring the product, processing data-point, reconstructing CAD model. How to achieve optimal design of ceramic product, reduce development time and funding for research has become a hot research topic for ceramic sanitary ware manufacturer.This dissertation has focused on the key areas in Guangdong and Hong Kong of major breakthrough project "ceramic ware key digital manufacturing process technology -- expert data system of ceramic firing process", and has used RE and Pro/E secondary development to study the toilet, which can be concentrated in the following issues:First, after analyzing the overall structure features of Toilet, the specific program has been made for data acquisition and processing: the toilet is separated into water basin, siphon, the external part and water tank, and use 3D laser scanning apparatus for scanning and collecting point cloud data. With the Imageware software, the point cloud data are preprocessed, including: removing abnormal data, point cloud filtering and reducing, point cloud splicing and patching, multi-view point cloud alignment and so on. Using NURBS curves and surfaces of theoretical knowledge, the point cloud data have been curve fit, and the toilet curve model has been made into physical model in PRO/E software. This dissertation has analyzed and evaluated the quality of re-constructed surface.Second, this dissertation has studied the whole process of secondary development of PRO/E thoroughly, including: Visual Studio 2005 environment setting, Pro/TOOLKIT application program registration and running and so on. So, the program of realized point cloud for closestool solid model has been achieved. By discussing the traditional closestool molding process, pointing out its shortcomings, an improved closestool molding process has been raised, which is based on RE and Pro/E secondary development.
