With the shortage of resources in the world, the pollution and environmental degradation which has now become all the more pressing and serious, the urban residents become more eager to nature than any time in the past. They want to live in the near-natural environment, the increasing demand for the quality and quantity to environment in residential area become the problem cried out for immediate solution. Fine landscape environment has become the most basic elements of residential areas, and the plant landscaping of residential area is related directly to the level and quality of residential areas. Therefore, environment landscaping of residential area become more and more important, and research into plants landscape in residential areas is of profound theoretical and practical significance.XingSha town of Changsha County is one of many new cities in China, is typical of these emerging cities. Based on the on-the-spot investigations and the talk with the Passer-by to the reality in view of the landscaping of residential area and the question,the paper studied on the plants landscape in urban residential areas under the view of ecological, environmental, aesthetic and landscape architecture theory from the following respects:such as the selection of plant varieties, the arrangement of plants, the design of the space on the residential landscape, and etc. The paper analyzed and discussed present situation and existing problems in the plants landscape of urban residential areas of Changsha County Xingsha Town, and put forward the guiding ideology and principles of plant landscape design in urban residential areas such as human-cenetred, ecology, humanize.In the same time, taking the Jingjiang Garden for example, based on the analysis of its urban residential areas characteristics, the new plant landscape design plan were recommend. And it is expected to provide a reference to the practice on plant landscape design of urban residential areas in the south of china.
