Product styling design is the process of creative design or optimization of product' shape,color,matieral,ornaments and other elements to meet several requirements, which plays a very important role in modern product innovation and development process. With development of the computer technology, art designing, artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology and other disciplines, the subject of digital cad product design system integrated with these technologies becomes a new hot spot in design reasearch field.Based on the analysis of the status of computer-aided industrial product design,this paper proposes the model for product styling image evaluation and computer-aided system'framework which branches out from cognitive psychology and the research on product styling image information.Based on the reasearch of image factor analysis method, image semantic words and image space establishment'technology, this paper proposes an clients'image evaluation system by using ASP, SQL Server, Dreamveaver technology or software which can efficiently evaluate the date of clients'image on product styling element (like shape, color, metieral), thus build the image space of specific styling element. After the analysis of these product styling elements and the users'feedback data of product image, this paper builds the training function in Matlab by using BP network model, and then integrated this with the customer satisfaction matrix to build the optimization function for genetic algorithm, based on which the intellect product styling design system was developed in the use of the VC++ 6.0 application.This paper uses car innovative design as an example to illustrate this system operation mode, accordding to human'observation habit, this paper proposes a method of decomposing car styling into the four elements as outline, component, connection and detail, then build up the form element sample library, and also the other two car'styling element: color and material. This example shows that the development of the product image and information evaluation system based on genetic algorithm for product design is available.
