Because of increasing traffic, a large number of congestions on express way are becoming "bottleneck" in the context of numerous expressway opened to traffic in China, which restricts the urban expressway in dredging the passing traffic. The traffic development and the interchange are incompatible, as a result, congestion Appears. According to the local road network, the author analyzed the feature of traffic flow and defined interchange option on the basis of traffic function.At present, there are very few studies on the research of urban expressway interchange adaptability. The studies on the express way interchange adaptability can provide a basis for design and planning.Furthermore, the paper analyzes the history together with problems of urban expressway overpass, in the base of which some reasonable classifications of urban expressway interchange have been done. In addition, the traffic conditions were determined, which restrict the choice of interchange programs. The calculation methods of the traffic capacity of urban expressway interchange were put forward. The service levels were classified, and the calculation methods of them were proposed. Then, some calculations and analysis of the traffic capacity together with service levels were done, which are used for various types of expressway interchanges. On the conditions of the traffic capacity for different composition of lanes, some emulations of the traffic flow were made by VISSIM, which analyzed delay. As a result, we could text the feasibility of the range of the traffic capacity.
