Vibration control by the Active constrained layer damping structure (ACLD) is a very popular subject in the modern world. The ACLD structure is a typical hybrid vibration control method with the merits of both passive vibration control and active vibration control, and it has been widely applied in the areas of military, aerospace and other high-level products, but it has relatively narrow range in the civil products, especially in the vibration and noise control of vehicles, where this kind of structure is never seen. The final goal of our team is to use the ACLD structure as an efficient tool of controlling the vibration and noise of vehicles. This thesis based on the base theory of ACLD, dose some vibration control study and test, and gets some useful result. This will be helpful to the further study.At the beginning of this thesis, the basic theory and the present research status have been introduced, and main content of this thesis is represented: building the 7 DOF finite element math model of the ACLD structure which contains PZT layer, viscoelastic layer and the basic layer established by the MATLAB. GHM method is used to express the damping property, while the PZT property is used to express the relationship between the control force and the voltage. The model experiment and the ANSYS model analysis result are always put in comparison in order to validate whether the math model is accurate or not. In the second stage, the thesis focuses on reducing the model DOF in physical space and state space by the dynamic condensation of high accurate and the balance model reduction. The LQR best control method and the PID control method are used to control the control voltage on the PZT, and simulate the control method in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. After the simulation, a two-side constrained thin steel plate commonly used in vehicle manufacturing industry is taken as a case. The ACLD structure is pasted to the plate, and verify the prior simulation. The experiment shows a good outcome of the vibration output, which is a ase study for the further application of the ACLD structure and it also demonstrates that the ACLD structure is a very effective way to control the vibration of the plate.
