Hydropower equipment health-condition assessment as a technique which ascertain the technical condition of the equipment can find potential failure in time to improve the operation reliability and safety of the equipment. It also can effectively promote the operation, maintenance and repair work of hydropower enterprise equipment undergoing in the science way and reduce the economic loss which results from blind maintenance and repair work. Those fully fit for the needs that hydropowers improve the operation safety and economy of the equipment. Therefore, the study of this topic becomes hot issues in the hydropower area now. In this context, the paper studies the key technologies problems of the hydropower equipment health-condition assessment in theory, such as the establishing of index system, the development of the algorithm, process design and assessment grade creating. The research result of the paper has a great vaule to imporve the level of equipment management of hydropower in theory and practice.The main contents as follows:①By analyzing the relevant research situation and developmen direction of equipment condition assessment, the paper proposes the research direction and ideas.②On the basis of an equipment composition study, the paper analyzes the importance of the equipments and determines their essentiality coefficient. Through analysis of the characteristics of hydropower equipment system, the paper makes a judgement that hydropower equipment system is a complex network system.③After a further study of equipment management theory, especially the equipment condition assessment theory, the paper establishes the hydropower equipment health-condition assessment system. The system constitutes by the assessment index, assessment process, assessment algorithm and assessment grade.④In the area of assessment index, the paper find a way to ascertain the index weight and determines the standard and method of evaluation. In the area of assessment algorithm, by bring complex networks theory into hydropower equipment health-condition assessment, the paper devides the assessment algorithm into two part: single equipment health-condition assessment and whole equipments health-condition assessment, and study them.⑤Assessment process and assessment grade are design and the mark of the assessment grade is study.⑥Based on the theory of the equipment assessment system, the papers studies the development of hydropower health-condition assessment software system. In the paper, the function of the system, design principles and system structure are described. while the system module is designed. The software system includes six modules, such as database module, decision supporting module, health-condition assessment module and system maintenance and management module ect. Each module is designed in detail. In finally,the paper introduces a example of system development.
