In recent years, the vigorous development of sports and sports industry, as well as the remarkable increase of "sports population" make the development of gymnasium buildings in china in an unprecedented golden stage. As one kind of large-scale public buildings, gymnasium plays a major role in the community. Nowadays, the function, structure, technology and materials of gymnasium develop quickly, and it provides more room for the creativity of gymnasium architectural modeling design. However, some problems emerge due to the increased speed of construction and the existing theory is difficult to keep up with the changing situation. Some become too complex to understand, some ignore building's own characteristics, some lack of local features and some fail to be friendly to the environment. Therefore, based on the existing theory of the architectural modeling design with the analysis of the related concepts, this dissertation discusses the main factors of gymnasium architectural modeling design which include functional, technical, material, environmental and human factors, and main performance approaches which include the shape construction, the space construction and the detail construction. By visiting a large number of instances and studying existing research results, some design methods are proposed in order to make gymnasium architectural modeling in accordance with their own characteristics, meet the requirements of the times and fit the future development. The main thread of the dissertation is: Ch. 1 Introduction, Ch. 2 Terms Defining and History, such as Gymnasium and Architectural Modeling, Ch. 3 Main Factors, Ch. 4 Main Performance Approaches, elaborating the analysis of the three kinds of construction of gymnasium architectural modeling, Ch. 5 Other Design Methods and Ch. 6 Conclusion.
