| Current remote video monitoring system in substation can not fully play its due role in real-time active supervision. In order to improve the effect of remote video monitoring system, image mosaic technology is introduced and surveillance images are stitched in this paper. The characteristics of video monitoring system are fully analyzed, image mosaic methods based on feature are discussed and SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform, SIFT) algorithm is investigated. Based on these, an image mosaic SIFT-based method for remote video monitoring system is given. The steps of this method are described in detail, and the implementation process of image mosaic is demonstrated by an example. The experiment result shows this method can perform well, and meet the requirement of real project, which will be benefit to improve the safety and reliability of substation operation.
