The water content in jet fuel is normally less than 15ppm to guarantee the safety of airplanes. Coalescencing technology with coalescence element is the main water removal method applied on jet fuel. The constructions of M/M100 coalescence elements were dissected and lots of parameters of demulsification layer were tested. Then demulsification layer was developed and coalescence elements were manufactured. Finally, water removal tests of coalescence elements were carried out. The main research includes the following sections:(1) The M/M100 coalescence elements were dissected. By using test equipments, such as infrared spectrometer, energy spectrometer, scanning electron microscope, contact angle measuring equipment and optical microscope, the contact angle, thickness, density of demulsification layer and the composition, diameter and length of fiber were measured.(2) Three different diameter distributions of glassfiber and four kinds of PF resin were chosen to trial manufacture demulsification layers. Based on a large number of trials, the diameter distribution of glassfiber, the type of PF resin, the immersing and solidification parameters of glassfiber felt were determined. And then demulsification layers were manufactured.(3) Coalescence elements were manufactured with the manufactured demulsification layers and carried out on water removal test by 32# turbine oil. Compared with the domestic similar product, they have better water removal performance.
