In this paper, non-linear failure research status of the hand brake arm assembly was described, and the background and product design requirements were introduced. The working principle and structure characteristics of the hand brake arm assembly were introduced, and its mechanical properties were analyzed. According to the relevant design specifications, research and analysis programs were set up, and failure analysis was studied and assembly-based components as the research object in order to study, based on assembly of components and non-linear theory, at present this type of study is still rare in the country.The non-linear theory was researched in this paper, at begins the basic theory and methods of the non-linear finite element of was described, the basic numerical methods were discussed and compared. And superiority of explicit algorithm for the highly non-linear analysis was analyzed in detail. The research and analysis process provides a good theoretical foundation and protection for the whole topic.The structure of hand brake arm assembly was complicated, and modeling process was needed to be considered calculation time and calculation accuracy. In this paper, the model type, the mesh, the connection, the contact, materials and failure model parameters were studied for such as ensuring the accuracy of the premise, which control calculation size and computing time and provide basis protection for further study.In accordance with the data provided by enterprise and the actual situation of hand brake arm, failure analysis model of the hand brake arm assembly was established. In accordance with relevant design codes, simulation analysis were conducted, stress and strain failure components, residual deformation and residual stress were showed. Thus result of failure analysis was compared with modal analysis, and improve t plan was made. The non-linear failure model and simulation results could provide guidance for company's products design and increase the enterprise's product design capability.The research of the hand brake assembly provides important data for product design and enhances the ability of enterprise employees to use the theory and software for design products, and improves product quality and enterprise efficiency. Then this paper provides an important reference for related products non-linear design, which has a good theoretical and practical significance.
