Convection is a common phenomenon in nature,for example:atmospheric circulation caused by changes in the weather; the water temperature, salinity, ocean circulation together generated; continental plates drift caused by mantle convection; magnetic field and change the decision to check the flow of foreign;in the atmosphere, heat and the spread of pollutants, and so typical of convective phenomena. In addition, there are many phenomena related with the convection. The deep research for these phenomena is indispensable both in harmonious coexistence between human and nature, and in controlling, using nature. Accordingly, research in this area attracted more and more attention of scholars.In this thesis, our main interest focuses on simulateing flow, temperature and concentration field of the binary fluid mixture in long and narrow cells by solving the basic equations of fluid mechanics, and investigating pattern formations and nonlinear characteristics. Author mainly simulates traveling wave patterns in the small rectangular cellΓ=10 at small perturbations for separation ratioΨ=-0.6,-0.4 and-0.2 to be computed. We founded some convections, such as localized traveling wave, traveling wave with defect,traveling wave,counter propagating wave,undulation traveling wave and stationary overturning convection.We analysed the velocity, temperature and concentration field by solving the basic equations of fluid mechanics, and investigating pattern formations and nonlinear characteristics. The thesis described convection characteristic and pattern form of these especial traveling waves in detail, studied the ranges, the spatio temporal structures, and the stability of all the traveling wave states, Author discussed the dependence of the convection pattern characteristics on the different separation ratio by using the analysis of the convection parameter. At the same time, author also simulates traveling wave patterns in the small rectangular cellΓ=10 at the initial value is 0 for separation ratioΨ=-0.4 to be computed. And Zhe Yuan, Yu Li and others research results with my own research results were analyzed and compared.
